Meet Emily
Hi! We’re Chris and Emily – the husband-and-wife team behind Bloom Tallow, based out of Nelson, New Zealand.
Our journey started in our own home, during one of the toughest seasons of Chris’s life. After years of battling eczema and reactive skin, Chris found himself stuck in the never-ending cycle of steroid creams, antibiotics, and moisturisers. Eventually, he hit a wall—his skin became so sensitive that even basic products caused stinging, flaking, and pain. He was diagnosed with Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) and began a long, difficult road toward recovery.
In the middle of that, we started asking: what if we went back to something simple? Something nourishing?
That’s when Emily began making small batches of whipped lamb tallow balm in our kitchen—using 100% grass-fed lamb tallow from right here in New Zealand. We kept it pure and clean, with only a few ingredients to support healing and hydration. The results were amazing.
Chris found the balm incredibly soothing. It helped reduce inflammation, calmed his skin, and supported the healing of wounds. The tallow balm became a key part of his daily routine—and continues to be. He recommends the unscented version, especially for sensitive and compromised skin.
What started as a balm for Chris soon became something friends and family were asking for too. So, we decided to make it available to others who might be struggling just like we were. And that’s how Bloom Tallow was born.
We believe skincare shouldn’t be complicated. It should be gentle, natural, and truly nourishing. Our tallow balm is made with care in Nelson, NZ, using local ingredients.
